1 Seat
Last year Beloved took me on a new walk and we came across this seat. At the time
2 ladies were there and one was explaining that the seat was dedicated to her husband.
As she left she kissed her hand and patted the seat saying 'Goodbye'.
The other day we returned so I could take a picture of this seat and we had it all to ourselves.
We sat there in the sunshine, admiring the view whilst eating a Magnum ice cream!
2 View from above seat
I had hoped I'd be able to join these seamlessly but I could not manage this; see below!
Later I remembered I have a setting on my new camera that would have done this for me....
The view is of Slipper Hill Reservoir.
A few days later we returned to the seat (with Magnum ice creams!) and I took a panoramic photo.
Much better!
3 Lunch
I had some old potatoes, a bit soft but Beloved suggested I make them into LUNCH for the birds.
First microwave the potatoes.
Second chop them up and put them out into the garden and wait.
Third a jackdaw comes to sample the feast.
Fourth a pair of blackbirds have a real feast.
Later I saw a rabbit eat some.
4 Starts with P - PYROMANIACS
We own some fields nearby and like to have bonfires, old wood, personal papers etc etc.
Mostly we have a small bonfire in an old oil drum; on the right you can see Beloved adding
one of my old wellies to the inferno!
5 Transport

Beloved was using the digger to fill the red trailer with ¾ down stone which he then took to
a friend's house as he was about to lay a new concrete floor in the kitchen.
Later I asked if I could drive the digger back to the shed but I left it to Beloved to drive it
into the shed!
6 Own Choice
Look at the newest visitors to our garden! Mandarin ducks by the way.
What a pretty boy he is. They have visited several times recently.
The first time I saw them was when I spotted 2 unusual birds
land in the trees at the bottom of the garden and next news
they flew down into the garden. They are a perching duck...

The following day Beloved was telling his sister (who is a keen bird watcher)
about them but could not remember their name so he called them
Marzipan Ducks!!! So now that is what we call them.
Well that's my offerings for this month. Thanks again to Hawthorn for hosting the photo hunt. Click here to return to her blog to see what other people have prepared.
The view is lovely and the ducks look cute - I love Mandarins - but the thing that does it for me is the blue tractor. I've been quite a tractor maniac in the past, my last partner and I owned and drove several vintage ones and anything like diggers, tractors and forklifts really 'get' me :)
ReplyDeleteI too can't resist diggers and the like. When I was about 12 some playing fields next to my school were being built upon and I spent many a break/lunch hour watching the tracked vehicles etc moving about. One day I plan to be asked to be let loose on our digger, somewhere in our fields.... got to be easier than using a spade!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have mandarin ducks in your garden, they are such colourful characters. It's a great idea to feed the old potatoes to the birds and they obviously enjoyed their meal. The view is wonderful from the seat and much enjoyed by the man to whom the seat is dedicated:)
ReplyDeleteThe mandarin ducks have been back several times. Perhaps they might bring their young to see us! The view from that seat is so peaceful. Will go back soon, with a Magnum ice cream of course!
DeleteI so enjoyed your selection. Wonder if my camera has anything as fancy for cobbling wide shots? I've never driven a tractor, so well done you with the digger. Those "marzipan" ducks are gorgeous. We also keep silly names when we talk about certain things, so glad we aren't alone in that. Thanks for sharing & take care.
ReplyDeleteYour camera might take panorama shots; an earlier digital camera I had would take a series of shots and then you used the camera software to zip them together... driving the digger was easy; just push the two levers forward to go ahead and back to go back... to turn left you moved just the right lever forward; that said it was a very bumpy ride! I saw Mr Marizan floating on the beck at the bottom of our garden the other day. Sorry to see in a comment you left on another set of photos that you are so cold! It's not very warm here about 14°!
DeleteBeautiful photos.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my photos.
DeleteLove the marzipan ducks, wonder if they have come from Ballgrove, coz there are a pair there, except I've not seen them for about a week or so, Lovely view of Slipper Hill reservoir - last time I was there, Chris and I dashed round to avoid a huge rain cloud looming up!
ReplyDeletePerhaps we need to attach a 'tracker' to the marzipan ducks so we can see where they go.
DeleteI think I prefer the name Marzipan Ducks. 🤣
ReplyDeleteGood idea to feed the potatoes to the birds. I have a hungry black Labrador who would scoff them though. X
Yes, it will be Marizpan ducks from now on. I also happen to like eating marzipan sweets.... we don't have a dog so the potatoes are for birds and other wildlife only.
DeleteThe plaque on that seat is so moving - what a lovely thing to do for some you loved. And the view is worth looking at. Those ducks are so cute - yes, definitely marzipan ducks lol
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I haven't joined in again this month - things are just on top of me a bit, but it's lovely having time to check in with you all.
Thanks for finding time to look at my photos; I see that you did manage to join in this month, well done. Marzipan ducks seem to be this month's favourite photo.
DeleteIf I were to encourage him, he'd buy another tractor but we already have 4 and a digger so the shed if rather full. We only have a few fields and I'm not sure why he wants another one.... I agree that we are so lucky with the wildlife we get in our garden. I suppose it helps having the countryside around us and a beck at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special seat, how touching to hear them talk about it. And such a lovely view from it.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet ducks, no matter what you call them!
So glad you liked the seat/view and ducks. This month I think the seat/view photos from everyone have been a joy to see.
DeleteThe bench story is very touching and such a restful view. But like most others, my favourite is the marzipan ducks though P for pyromaniacs is very 'you'. :) ' x
ReplyDeleteGlad you found me! I keep going back to that seat/view in my mind. Lucky for us it is close by and we can return whenever. We're planning another P event soon.... Not seen the Marzipan ducks for a little while now but our regulars call daily, in fact several times a day!
