May 2020 Photo Hunt

Another month has slipped by, thankfully mostly sunny weather apart from a few days with high winds.

1   Triangle

I had so many triangular choices but I managed to limit it to two!

Occasionally I do make Christmas cards....

2   Circle

Once again I had so many choices as we are surrounded by circles, eg, wheels etc etc.

I love stone.  This is part of an art installation at the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate.

I was there at a quilt show and I found time to wander around outside, with no crowds
to get in the way!

3   Splat

My latest broach could be based upon a splat!  It is made by Jackie Cardy.
Click here to read more about her if you're on Facebook.

4   Square

Once again so many possible choices but here is my current favour square.
I saw this quilt on Facebook recently and just had to give it a go.  I'll make a smaller
version, suitable for a Project Linus quilt.  I need to cut 30 blue squares, each 5"
as well as 480 squares, each 2".

All the squares are here, ready for sewing together 'soon'.

5    Star

Hard to select one photo, again!

A recent purchase from a charity shop, before all the shops shut.

6   Own choice

Well, where to begin.  I thought I'd stay with the shape theme but there are so many shapes, everywhere.  I tired really hard to find one photo but in the end I chose 2....

Crochet hexagon motifs for my latest Janie Crow blanket.

Coiled up fern, slowly unfurling itself from its spiral shape.

Well, that's all for this month.  Can't wait to see what shapes you have all found.  Thanks Hawthorn!

Bye!

Five on Friday - Gratitude 22 May 2020

Well here I am joining in with Hawthorn and thinking about life and how grateful I am for so many things but here are the latest 5 that make me smile.

1   Drying washing outside - ah the smell of dried bedding etc, after being out in a sunny day.

2   Staying safe - we are able to do this easily.  Luckily we are both retired and have no work worries; so far we remain well and are able to keep away from everyone.  We can cope like this and what we miss are really only small inconveniences.  We will not be rushing to join the crowds on the beaches!

3   Digital camera - I'm on my 4th one now; I bought my first one as a bit of a whim and have never looked back.  I never understood aperture etc etc so to be able to zoom, point and click has been great!  Many photos are taken as soon as I see something and often have to be taken quickly as the subject does not pose for long!  As you can see from the following photo of a baby bunny in our garden recently.

4  My garden

Having to stay at home, together with lovely weather, has enabled me to spend lots of time in the garden.  We moved here 5 years and 2 months ago and this year is really the first time that I've been able to look at the garden I have created.  It's still work in progress but I have been grateful for the time and opportunity to look at it every day.  It makes me smile and I get a lot of pleasure from it.

Stumbling across the Dodecatheon in flower; I'd forgotten I had one!

5  Own space

We are lucky to have 2 lounges, one for Beloved and one for me.  I can highly recommend this!  When we viewed the house for the first time, it did not sink in how wonderful this arrangement would be.  Say no more!

Thanks to Hawthorn for hosting this once again.

Bye!

April 2020 Photo Hunt

I find it hard to believe it's that time again!  I hope you are all well and staying safe.  Here's my humble offerings.

1   Happiness is ......

Seeing bees on my flowers.   I never tire of seeing them.  This is a tree bumble bee

2  Makes me smile

Mrs Black found me in the greenhouse and came over to let me know she was there.
As I went towards the house she followed me.  I stopped near the house
and she approached and then tapped my boots.  I took the hint
and went inside to get her some wheat.

3   Relaxing with .....

This drake is Mr Brown; as he was relaxing Mrs Brown was having her wheat snack.

4   Busy with ......

My latest Project Linus quilt; it needs quilting which I'll do later.
It was a pattern I bought from Donna Jordan in Oregon
but her block was so big that I'd only get about 4 across
and possibly 2 rows.  So I set to and re-scaled it.
I was very pleased to find the ratio of the new block
was the same as her block!
An interesting challenge too.

5   Positive about ....

Fingers crossed we'll soon have baby bunnies in the garden!

6   Own choice

Spotted the other day as we went for our daily walk in our field.
Ducklings are magical and they are such a feel good factor.

Personally I find I have a lot to be 'happy' about and I hope the rain is not going to be here for too long!

Take care and see you next month.  Thanks Hawthorn for organising this.

Bye!
