March 2018 Photo Scavenger Hunt

Well it is only 3 March and I've got my photos for this month's photo hunt sorted, again hosted by Hawthorn.  So I can now relax for the next 27 days!

So let me show you what I've come up with.

1   Hole

Well two holes; I could not decide which to include....
The top one is a hole in the bird house, through which the blackbird drops in
to get to its suet block.  So far I've not seen any other birds in there.
Like most people we've had some snow; look at the hole the flapping
rotary dryer cover made in the snow.

2  Making

I'm planning to make this quilt for Beloved; I will be using this pattern but different colours.
He likes red, black and white.  It will be a cover for his armchair.
The areas labelled above with 1 will be a red fabric with some black in it.
The areas labelled above with 2 will be a graded set of black and white fabrics.
Area 3 I think will be black and white.
Area 4, well I'll sort that out later!

 3  Reading

The book I am using.  I've made 2 French Braid quilts before, 2008 and 2009.
I cannot recall how to make it so will be re-reading these pages again
when I set to and make it.

4   Black and White

The collection of black and white fabrics I purchased from a recent visit to a quilt show at Harrogate.
I'm not convinced about the third one from the right so might change it.
These fabrics are displayed on the red and black fabric I plan to use in Beloved's quilt.

5   Starts with H

H is for Hexagons!  I made another basket earlier this year but wanted
to make a smaller one.  Beloved helped me by drawing out a pentagon
which I used to make the hexagons turn up into sides.
I do find the little clips in the top left photo wonderful; no more
getting stabbed with pins.  For the pentagons I deliberately
reversed the colour sequence.  The second row shows the basket
from the outside (star side) and then the inside.
As you can see I've found a use for my new basket, holding yarn left over from
making Attic24 blankets.  I've found I can even turn the basket inside out....
I've yet to decide what I will do with this lovely yarn.

6   Own Choice

Back in January's photo scavenger hunt this year (click here) I showed you the quilt I'd made for the sofa.  Guess what?  I've now made a quilt for each of the arm chairs.

Top left Beloved's chair (when he joins me upstairs!); top right my chair.
Bottom left both chairs.  Bottom right shows some of my chicken fabrics!
Like the sofa quilt I took them to Quilters Quarters in Longridge to be quilted on a
long arm machine.  The quilts are firmer than if they had been hand quilted.
So I am mulling over whether to try to layer up Beloved's French Braid quilt
or to take it to Longridge.....  I'll ask his opinion when I get to that stage!

Well, as they say that's all folks.  Thanks for taking the time to look at my photos.  If you havn't done so already, please click here to look at Hawthorn's photos and from there follow the links to other participants.  It is always so interesting to see what other people find.

So I will take my own advice and go and have a look.  Bye!
