Photo Hunt 29 October 2021 - Own Choice

I've never been one to 'celebrate' Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc etc so I don't have any Halloween photos to share with you.  I did think I might take a photo of some shop displays but I've not seen any while I've been walking around.  So let's see what I have found.

Back in March 2013 I was part of the Yarnival event in our
village.  I made the big spider, Beloved made the frame,
I made the web and bought lots of plastic spiders
to finish the display.

The other week I felt the need to crochet a pumpkin!
As usual, I had to embellish it with beads; it is
sitting in front of a reflective surface.

Then I made another two.  I prefer the two on the left and
not the design on the right.

Purple is one of my favourite colours as well as
featuring in Halloween.  The above is an unfinished
piece of work from many years ago.  Currently
I'm on a mission to finish lots of projects.
The fabric squares are sewn with a zig-zag
stitch between each one.  They are sewn onto a
stiffish Vylene to which the fabrics have been ironed on.

Use a rotary cutter to make slices of varying widths.
Move them around and re-sew with zig-zag stitches.
Repeat and repeat until you are happy with the effect.

Here it is finished. So what to do with it?

Cut into suitable sizes, bind the raw edge with
contrasting ribbon and glue to the front of
a blank notebook.  Gift to someone who
will appreciate it.

There were some scraps left over so I sewed them together and
had enough to put into a blank coaster.

Back to purple, well mostly purple.
My latest crochet blanket, folded in half.
It is nearly long enough, at about 2 metres...

Here, I've opened it out.  I will add a border later.  I only
work on it when I've no other hand work to do at night.

As well as being another Friday, it is now almost the end of October.  Where has October gone to?  Never mind, it is another month nearer Spring!  Thanks Astrid for keeping my brain ticking over.  Click here to return to her link-up page to see what the others have done with Halloween.

Bye!

Photo Hunt 22 October 2021 - Costume

Somehow I've lost a day this week....  so it was a bit of a rush to finish this off.  Just as well I'd made a start on it!

I've had to think outside the box for this one as we don't have children nor are we given to attending 'costume' parties!

My friend dances with the 400 Roses group
(tribal fusion belly dancers).
Their costumes are all 'home-made'.
The lady on the right with roses on her
waistcoat is something I embellished
for her.  I did not make the waistcoat!

I've never been to see them dance but you can see
them on YouTube and the like.
Click here to see them at Haworth.

My friend is in the centre with waistcoat number 2
newly embellished by myself.

Such lovely colours but then red, black and white do appeal to me!

A close up of one of the waistcoats.  She gave me no
hints so I had to use my imagination - no
pressure then!

Beloved made me a wire tree and
I gave it a costume of burgundy
yarn.

I even managed to crochet bobbles for the sharp ends.

The wire tree was inserted into a piece of wood but I needed
to stop it toppling over.  So I made crochet jackets for
stones!  I liked selecting colourful yarn for their costumes.

A close-up of one stone.

And another one.

A branch from an ash tree that is also wearing a costume
of various yarns.

An another ash branch, happily wearing its costume.

Beloved wearing costume prototype number 1.
Not effective so I modified them and
all is well now!

Now when he cuts the lawn there is minimal grass stuck
to his legs!

Wearing my costume for working up at the fields;
nice wellies!  It's a huge molehill with a nest under it.

Finally, my beloved teddy wearing a jumper
I made when I had a knitting machine.
So it is his costume.

That's all from me this week; click here to return to Astrid's Link Up page.

Bye!

15 October 2021 Photo Hunt - Purple

Thanks Astrid for this word as it was an easy one for me.  I like purple!

Teasel with bee!  I had one in my previous garden and found
it was generous with its seed.  The following year I had
lots of extra weeding to do.  I do like them but
I'm not planning to grow any more!

My purple hellebore.

Another purple hellebore.

I have a lot of purple hardy geraniums in the garden.
This is Geranium phaeum.

Geranium palmatum (more purple than pink!).

Common Spotted Orchid in our fields.

Love foxgloves.

Thistle (and friend) at our fields.

This clematis did very well this year.

Purple plums on our new plum tree.  I hope
it does well next year but .....

Lovely colour; a type of Malva.  A friend kindly
gave me some seed; I hope it returns next year.

On my to-do list, soon I hope!

A purple theme small blanket for the cat rescue.

What to do with these lovely purple batik charm squares?

Sign I made for my new greenhouse, know as GCHQ!
Purple fabric and beads, of course.

Blackberry and apple crumble.....

Me in my purple gardening coat in my new greenhouse
just as the workmen left.

A purple themed small crochet blanket.  I think I donated it
to a cat rescue place.

This was made for Project Linus but
when my quilting friend saw it she
said I had to keep it!  I saw a picture
on the web and worked out how to
make it; I like challenges like this.

The purple border fabric is crushed, plush velvet.
It was naughty to work with but I won.

A brooch I made years ago.  I should wear it but
I don't.  It's nice to look at though!

Well, I'm keeping it short this week.  I could have gone on a lot longer.  Click here to return to Astrid's link up page.

Bye!

Photo Hunt 8 October 2021 - Candy

Oooh, candy, or sweets/confectionary in the UK.  I have to admit to having a sweet tooth!  So this should be an easy word for me!  It will be a short and sweet post.....

On my alternative Christmas tree (a yarn wrapped Ash
branch) I hang Christmas choccies!

I also hang a bag of Christmas choccy coins.

I stumbled across this the other day, just
right for today!
These sweets are now in a glass cut dish
and I limit myself to one a day.....

I bought these recently for a craft project which I'll
talk about another time!

I'm having a long overdue sort
out and came across this
fabric covered box I made
earlier this year.

When you remove the top, it opens up to reveal a secret
compartment!  I will fill it with chocolates when I
put it out on display with my other Christmas
decorations, probably in early December.
So I've an excuse to buy more candy!

This is Candytuft, Iberis candytuft!

Such a happy flower to see in spring!

I cannot think of my favourite candy/sweet as I like most of them!

Thanks Astrid for hosting this again.  Click here to return to her link page.
