March 2020 Photo Hunt

Hello everyone; hope you are all keeping safe.  Now for some 'happy' photos given the current situation most of the world is living with.

1   Birthday

We don't celebrate birthdays and the like here but there is a birthday today as it is 5 years ago that we moved into our current home.  Where has the time gone?

Here is my favourite bit of our new home.

The seating area overlooking the garden; my 'chair' is on the right.  From here I can see the
garden and watch the little birds that can get into the 'cage' on the veranda.
When I have my brews, you will find me here with my latest reading book.

Taken from the garden, looking up where I sit.

2   Jazzy

Couldn't resist this as my Jazzy photo; the apples are lovely and crisp.

3   Flag

Years ago (!) I used to be able to move 3' x 2' flags with ease...  not any more!
Here are the flags I used to make a better path to the polytunnel at the old house.
Taken in 2005.

Here I made a raised area, with flags, upon which I could stand various pots.
Taken in 2006...   hmmmm

The photo I had planned to include meant I had to go out and take a photo of it but
in the current situation I did not go out but I used my initiative!
This huge flag is outside our Town Hall.  It is huge.  Thanks Google!

4   Three

I am still making quilts for Project Linus; here are three of my latest ones, all modeled by Beloved.

I added a flange border; a first for me.

Another flange border; a lot of extra work but I do like then.

They are not perfect but I'm still learning and having fun.

5   Cushion

I cannot remember when I bought this tapestry kit (over 15 years ago???) but
last year I finally made it.

6   Own choice

Who can resist lambs?  There are loads in the fields now so spring is here!

Well that's my lot for this month.  I'll be keeping an eye on who links with Hawthorn.  Thanks Hawthorn.

    1. Call me awkward but I'm determined to stay as normal as possible! We'll discuss how normal I am in private! Glad you liked my photos; the lamb one was just a lucky click!

  2. Great M. Love your room with views of the garden & wish I'd thought more outside the box this time, but a day out in the middle of nowhere on Keith's birthday was good for me, especially as we now can't travel more than 2kms from home unless it is vitally important. The lambs are so cute, but what sort of birds are they? Love your quilts & the fact they are for Project Linus. Take care, stay safe and huggles.

    1. Some of the birds are Black headed gulls, plus a lone female duck and the pure black ones are corvids (crows, jackdaws and the like). I treated myself so a new, bigger Janome sewing machine so am trying to get to grips with it but the sunshine is calling me outside into the garden or up to our fields. Take care.

  3. What a lovely place for you to sit and enjoy the outside, almost like being there!
Your quilts are beautiful and that cushion is stunning.
    Those little lambs are adorable!

  4. I agree with AStrid - what a fabulous place to sit and watch the garden and the birds - and all your throws and quilts make the room - happy birthday house :)
As always your quilts are very impressive - I particularly loved the red one ... and the lambs are so cute. Stay safe and well.

    1. I have to admit that every time I go and sit on my chair (several times a day) it is my own private birthday party; love it. The quilt you were admiring was made in 2012 ish having seen it in a quilt fabric shop in October 2010. Sadly the shop closed a few years ago.

  5. Thank you for your Happy photos, and your chair certainly looks like a happy place. In New Zealand we don't tend to use the term Flags for stones so I was very interested in the variety you posted.

    1. Funny how easy it is to forget that other countries (and counties in the UK) call our everyday objects by a different name. I'll try to post more happy photos next month.

  6. Lovely pictures, I especially love your upstairs lounge view of your garden and bird life. What a collection of quilts you have in there - I recognise quite a few. I love the last quilt in your 'Three' entry best and remember that cushion and what a lot of trouble you went to in order to get it right. I froze at Jazzy, what on earth should I do. Never thought of Jazz apples. xx

    1. Jazz apples are new to me; since I'd no other ideas for Jazzy I chose them. As for the quilt you like, I've seen a similar design in greys and pinks so I might be doing that soon, provided I have the right fabrics in my stash! My upstairs lounge chair gets a lot of use! x

  7. A wonderful sitting area filled with pretty crochet blankets, what a view you have.

    1. I realise how lucky I am to have my chair there. Not fed up with it even after 5 years!
