November 2020 Photo Hunt

Well, here we are again.  Hard to believe another month has gone by.  I find the weeks are slipping by so quickly these days.  Thanks to Hawthorn for hosting this once more.  So let's see what I can show you.

1   Houseplants

Many years ago I used to have lots of houseplants but no more (I no longer
wanted to be bothered with re-potting etc).  But I recently bought some
white narcissus bulbs which did flower for me!

Now the narcissus have gone, I've replaced them with a pot
of  hyacinth bulbs; I gaze at them every day looking
forward (with a smile on my face) to when they will bloom
and hopefully be scented!  I'm already anticipating
being able to buy cut daffodil flowers in
late January 2021, if there are any.

2   Rings

Out on a local walk last year and I spotted these rings.
Possibly for electric fencing wire?

Beautifully made.
PS Just look at the lovely sky!

3   Harbour

This photo was taken just over 18 years ago.... we used to visit friends in Oban and then go out
onto the water and float around (taking nibbles and sherry with us.....).
Anyway, we often pulled in to a sheltered place called Puilladobhrain, pronounced Puldoran!
The boat in the picture must have been beached on a very high tide.
Click here to read more about it.

4   Window

So many possibilities!  I've managed to limit myself to 'two' pictures.

Having a brew and cake at Hawes Creamery; I liked the
window glass!

The window for the driver of the Flying Scotsman.

April 2017 she was at Oakworth and we managed to see her; what a lovely thing she is.
Top left you can just see the other window in the cab.

5   Sky

We have seen some wonderful clouds in the skies this month.  I have done my best to select just three.....

Looks like the pattern the retreating tide makes on a sandy beach....

The contrast between the very dark sky and bright sunshine was a delight to see.
In reality the sky was a lot darker.....

Driving home recently and I (as the passenger!) spotted this.
We think it was a con trail but at a rather unusual angle.
Thankfully not a tornado!

6   Own choice

My original plan for this photo has not happened so I went to plan B!

I've started to crochet this blanket but it's not finished yet
but at the same time I've made a smaller version
for the kitty rescue charity.

Here it is.  It's not identical to the original pattern
but a smaller and adapted version!

Well, that's all for now.  I'm off to see your photos now and during the weekend.

Bye!

  1. I love that you have extra photos - I did too this month :D those 'ring' ?electric fence extension posts are rather beautiful - so nicely made. But what stands out for me is that rather precariously 'berthed' boat on the rocks - eek - imagine the owner saying .... I'm just popping down to the boat dear, shan't be long...' then finding that!!!!

    1. I am finding it increasing hard to limit myself to one photo per word.... I thought the rings were beautifully made and lovely to look at. As for the boat we came to the conclusion that it had been hauled up, well out of the usual high tide mark, so it could be repaired/renovated in some way. It was there for years and then it was gone.

    1. The flowers were pretty but rather short-lived. They did have a peculiar scent, almost unpleasant. x

  3. Great photos, those clouds are so cool and that one does look like the start of a tornado! Your blanket is beautiful, I love the colours you chose.

    1. I'm not usually found to be using blue and green together as they are not my usual colours; I used them to try to use up some oddments. Glad you liked it. I have to admit to liking cloud formations.

  4. Well done you. Great one for rings. I love your cloud photos, especially that last one & another, that I think is so typically English, of a harbour. Your window at the Creamery is gorgeous & I have been there a looooong time ago. Thanks for sharing, take care, stay safe & huggles.

    1. What I like about the photo hunt is seeing other places that I will never visit but also photos of places I know that appear on other people's posts. Makes the world seem smaller.

  5. I'm curious ... did that boat ever make it back to the water? What a great photo. I love your blankets. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hello Ella. Thanks for your comments. All I can say about that boat is that it is no longer there. I like to think it made it back into the water and sailed off into the sunset...

  6. We were due to visit Hawes earlier this year but have had to postpone till next year. Hopefully we will be getting back to normal by then ... a visit to the creamery is definitely on the cards 😃

    1. I've not been there for years but it was an excellent, if popular, place to visit. I don't know if it is still there but there was a cheese tasting room... I hope you manage to visit.

  7. Love your pictures. Can you see the faces in the the white narcissus? Happy little faces with white ruffs, such happy flowers. Kitty blanket is most impressive and I must say I thought you had photographed a tornado!! xx

    1. Now you mention it, I can see the little faces. I am glad to report it was not a tornado. If it had been, we would have been driving away from it! x

  8. I thought the cloud was a tornado too :) I like the white flowers and the boat shot is great, it looks like a decent craft so I hope someone rescued it :)
